National capital Delhi shut down till 31st March

Akshara Bharat। Delhi Chief Minister, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal has announced a complete shutdown of the national capital from 6 am tomorrow till 31st March 2019, against the backdrop of a coronavirus outbreak. Although, the lockdown will not affect the availability of essential services like dairies, grocery shops, chemists, petrol pumps and medical services. Additionally, Delhi Police has also enforced prohibitory orders banning the gathering of more than four people, across the city.

Bihar- looking for a resurgence

“We know people will face difficulties, but lockdown is necessary to contain the spread of coronavirus. Delhi’s borders will be sealed during lockdown but will ensure people providing essential services do not face difficulties,” said Mr. Kejriwal. He further added that no transport services will be allowed, except few DTC buses and all borders of the national capital will be shut and domestic and international flights will be suspended.

As of now, the contagious virus has claimed 7 lives in the country, with Gujarat reporting its first death. Bihar and Maharashtra also reported one death each, earlier today. The Indian Council of Medical Research has reported 341 COVID-19 positive cases in the country. However, the silver lining is that the entire country is taking additional measures to curb the outbreak, as people from all the states stand united against this calamity. This was evident from the way millions in the country had put themselves under a 14-hour long voluntary curfew today, acting on Prime Minister Modi’s appeal on Thursday for a day-long ‘Janata curfew’ .
